In order to allow passengers to properly plan their trip, it is important to keep in mind the services and items that are not included in this tour package:

  • Activities not indicated in the program: Any excursion, tour or additional experience not explicitly listed in the itinerary is not covered. If passengers wish to add extra activities, these must be booked separately at an additional cost.
  • Meals not indicated in the program: Breakfasts are included at all accommodations and lunch on Day 3 (El Silencio Trail + La Fortuna Waterfall) is also covered. However, lunches on the other days, as well as all dinners throughout the trip, are not included and are the responsibility of each passenger.
  • Bellboy tips: Tips for hotel luggage staff are not included in the package and are at each passenger’s discretion.
  • Housekeeping tips: Likewise, tips for hotel housekeeping and maids are not included in the package price.
  • Full coverage insurance for rental car: Should any passenger choose to rent a vehicle independently, full coverage insurance is not included in this program and must be purchased directly with the rental company.
  • Mandatory Christmas and New Year’s dinners: During the holiday dates of December 24 and 25, as well as December 31 and January 1, some hotels require participation in special dinners at an additional cost. These mandatory dinners are not included in the package and represent an extra expense passengers should consider if their trip coincides with these dates.

Below are the general conditions and important recommendations that passengers should take into account before and during the trip:

General booking conditions

  • Rates are net and non-commissionable, expressed in US dollars (USD).
  • Children are considered those up to 10 years of age.
  • Rates are calculated per person, according to the type of occupancy (single, double, triple, or child) and based on the number of passengers indicated.
  • As this is a quote, no reservations or blocks have been made. Rates are subject to availability until formal booking confirmation.
  • Double rooms may have one or two beds. Triple rooms have a maximum of 2 beds, so some passengers will have to share a bed. Two beds in double rooms are not guaranteed.
  • All activities included in the program are subject to a minimum number of participants and may vary. They will be confirmed at the time of firm booking.
  • The program has daily departures throughout the year.

Group payment and cancellation policy

  • To confirm the booking and guarantee the services, a non-refundable deposit of 10% of the total payment is required.
  • The remaining balance must be paid at least 45 days before the arrival date, or according to specific conditions indicated in the booking confirmation.
  • If canceled for reasons unrelated to the group, the deposit may be used for future reservations within 1 year.

Recommendations on what to bring to Costa Rica

To ensure a comfortable and safe experience during the trip, passengers are recommended to bring the following items:

  • Documents: Passport with at least 6 months validity.
  • Sun and insect protection: Sunscreen and insect repellent.
  • Clothing: Comfortable and lightweight t-shirts and pants.
  • Footwear: Lightweight waterproof hiking boots, river sandals (Teva style), and a pair of tennis shoes.
  • Rain gear: Poncho, raincoat and/or umbrella, as the tropical climate can be variable.
  • Additional sun protection: Hat, visor, cap, and sunglasses.
  • Hydration: Reusable water bottle for hikes.
  • Electronics: Electronic device charger and American-style plug adapter.
  • Health: Necessary personal medications.
  • Accessories: Small backpack for hikes.
  • If visiting Tortuguero during the turtle nesting season (June to September), it is recommended to bring dark pants and shirts, as well as closed shoes.

Vehicle rental requirements (applies only if not using the transfers included in the program)

  • Valid driver’s license. The foreign license is valid in Costa Rica for 90 days from the date of entry.
  • Minimum driver age: 23 years.
  • The driver must carry a valid license from the country of origin.
  • The driver must present a valid passport.
  • The driver must present the original credit card (AMEX, VISA, or MASTER CARD) with availability for the guarantee deposit (approximately $500.00 USD).
